Interns are our camps’ “cool” factor! They are enthusiastic, friendly and thoughtful high schoolers who volunteer at our leadership camps. We know the curriculum works and the teachers are amazing, but who do middle schoolers really want to learn from? You!
Would you like to be an intern with Michelle in the Middle? You’ll help give middle school students the tools to face the coming years with courage and confidence!
Characteristics: This position is available for young women and men in high school or college. Interns should exhibit the following characteristics, skills, and interests:
- Excellent conversation skills
- Creative thinking
- Sense of humor
- Responsibility and organization
- Interest in promoting the well-being of tweens and teens
During the summer, Michelle in the Middle offers Athena’s Path and Hero’s Pursuit camps. Our camps use older students to serve as mentors and assistant instructors.
Our interns work with our adult instructors to give our elementary and middle school campers valuable perspective and skills to help them navigate the challenging years of adolescence…and beyond!
Our internships are not paid, but we do offer:
- Leadership and volunteer experience for college and job resumes
- Letters of recommendation
- Fun experiences for college essays
- The opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life and form great relationships
- A great t-shirt 🙂
Athena’s Path and Hero’s Pursuit Summer Camps are one week long, and range from 20 – 25 hours total. This summer our camps are in Charlotte and Raleigh. It is important that you are available to work the entire camp time Monday – Friday.
